The GP106 graphics chip of the GeForce GTX 1060 is manufactured in the 16-nm FinFET process and is based on the NVIDIA Pascal GPU architecture. The GeForce GTX 1060 can be compared to its predecessor from the Maxwell generation with improved efficiency and impressive performance. The GP106 graphics chip has 1,280 shader units, which are called NVIDIA CUDA cores and help the graphics card to a good performance.

The GeForce GTX 1060 "9 Gbps" has optimized GDDR5 RAM with increased memory capacity and is available in versions with 3 or 6 GB VRAM. The 6 GB GDDR5 video memory of the GTX 1060 is connected via a 192-bit memory interface to the GPU, which achieves a memory bandwidth of 216 GB / s.
