Overview

"So small, can it really be a mainboard?" This is probably the first question to be asked at Intel's Next Unit of Computing (NUC). And "yes" is the answer, even with already integrated, powerful CPU.

Details

Finally, it is a matter of firing its display with high-performance components. On the other hand, it is a completely different one to realize the whole thing on a tiny miniature system and still not to forgo power. The UCFF form factor (UltraCompactFormFactor) of the NUC standard with 10,16 x 10,16 cm is definitely to be described as outstanding.

Surprisingly, the dwarf's expandability does not suffer under the size. Not only does it offer two SO-DIMM slots for up to 32GB DDR4 RAM with up to 2.133 MHz clock rate (1.2V!), A total of four USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 header (for two Connections). In addition, an HDMI port in version 2.0a, fast Gigabit LAN, two SATA-6G ports and a state-of-the-art M.2 slots for expansion with an M.2 SSD (PCIe 3.0 mode). The Intel Core i7-7567U (Kaby Lake) has two cores that can handle 3.5 to 4.0 GHz and can handle four threads at the same time thanks to SMT, and has outstanding performance with low power consumption (only 28 watts TDP) ,

In the system-on-a-chip (SoC) with the Core i7-7567U processor, Intel's integrated Iris Plus Graphics 650 is also used. This provides great performance for full HD encoding and output, and supports HDMI transmission up to standard 1.4a. The power requirement for the external power supply is only 65 watts (at 19 volts). The NUC-NUC7i5BNB is a compact, ultra-small, yet energy-saving system for any day-to-day tasks.
