Details

Built in the 16-nm FinFET process, the GP104 graphics chip of the GTX 1080 is a big step forward. The "Pascal" GPU architecture has many improvements over the predecessor "Maxwell". At the GTX 1080 the new GDDR5X video RAM is used for the first time. The GTX 1080 is the absolute must-have for gamers and enthusiasts!
The features of the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC 2 Gaming iCX at a glance

Dual fan design with iCX cooler technology
High base clock of the GPU: 1.708 MHz
Enormous boost clock of the GPU: 1.847 MHz
Very fast memory clock: 5,000 MHz (effectively 10,000 MHz)
Stylish LED lighting in white & indicator LEDs
Only one additional power connection: 1x 8-pin
GTX 1080 from EVGA with iCX cooler technology and LED lighting

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC 2 Gaming iCX has a base clock of 1.708 MHz, which can be boosted to a boost rate of 1.847 MHz when needed and thanks to GPU Boost 3.0 while the memory clock is at 5,000 MHz (effectively 10,000 MHz). For the efficient cooling of the graphics card, two revised axial fans with "Optimized Swept Fan Blades", double ball bearings and low-power motors are used, which in combination with the iCX technology ensure outstanding temperature control as well as reduced noise.

To keep the heat of the graphics card under control, EVGA has come up with something. A total of nine temperature sensors were distributed on the SC 2, which means that the user can always monitor the temperature values of the GPU (1 sensor), the storage modules (3 sensors) and voltage transformers (5 sensors). The values can be read directly in the PrecisionX OC software or can be recognized by means of the LED color of the thermal display, under the EVGA lettering on the graphics card.

In combination with the asynchronous fans, the various areas of the graphics card can be cooled depending on the requirements. The airflow is passed through the aluminum heat sink, which now has an improved contact area through many holes in the fin. This results in a much more efficient cooling with simultaneously reduced noise. The base and backplate of the SC 2 have also been reworked, because the optimized design and direct contact with the most important components can maximize the heat distribution of the graphics card.

Another special feature of the EVGA GTX 1080 SC 2 Gaming iCX is the stylish white LED light for the lettering and the heat sink, which is supplemented by the temperature display with LED indicators. For the LEDs of the temperature display, three different temperature states can be configured so that the temperature level of the GPU, the voltage transformers and the memory modules can be read very easily.

GeForce GTX 1080: Maximum gaming power for VR and 4K!

The 8GB GDDR5X video memory of the GTX 1080 is connected to the GPU via a 256-bit memory interface, which achieves a memory bandwidth of 320 GB / s. In addition to the video memory, the 2.560 CUDA cores of the GP104 graphics chip are responsible for the brutal gaming power of the GeForce GTX 1080.

The GTX-1080 graphics card family supports DirectX 12 and current gaming technologies, including NVIDIA GameWorks, Warp, Stereo-X, VR-Audio, PhysX and SMP (Simultaneous Multi-Projection). The latter is supported in version 4.0 and offers great advantages especially for VR, curved displays and multi-display setups.

Several monitors were viewed by games as a kind of broad monitor, rendering the GPU just a viewport and creating distortions. Thanks to SMP, Pascal now supports 16 simultaneous viewports, which allow a much more realistic display on several monitors, on curved displays or in 3D operation.

Especially VR benefits from the new technology, because two viewports can be rendered in one run. By using multiple viewports, the rendered image also comes with a smaller number of calculated pixels, which greatly improves VR performance.

Despite the extremely high computing power and memory expansion with 8 GB GDDR5X, the GeForce GTX 1080 works with a TDP of only 180 watts, which is compared to the direct predecessor GTX 980 only 15 watts more - at a significantly higher speed. Thanks to the reworked power supply of the GTX 1080 PCB, the energy efficiency of the GTX 980 increases by a whole six percent thanks to the new five-phase supply (in the reference layout) of the GPU and the various optimizations on the PCB.

The GeForce GTX 1080 has state-of-the-art connections. A total of three DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b connection are available for an image transmission of 4K / Ultra HD resolutions at 60 hertz, the latter having HDCP 2.2 and thus able to send and receive encrypted signals (4K-Blu -Rays / 4K streams). Alternatively, the GTX 1080 has a DVI-D (dual-link) output.

In order to maximize the full potential of the card in the future, new drivers from NVIDIA or EVGA should be downloaded and installed at regular intervals.

Graphics card exchange without waiting for caseking!

During the warranty period of 2 years from the date of purchase, Caseking will be exchanged directly by the customer for defective graphics cards - ie those with a defect confirmed by us - of all the brands mentioned below directly against new product (if stocked).
