Details

Electrolytic copper forms the basis for a solid base plate, the contact surface is polished flat. In order to optimize the good thermal conductivity of this metal on a special channel structure is milled into the surface. The wide channels provide optimum flow and constrict directly on the graphics chip to narrow channels to dissipate the heat from the primary heat source optimally.

Thanks to full-block design all relevant sources of heat the ASUS HD 7970 Matrix will be covered, so the graphics processor, the memory chips and voltage regulators are cooled optimally. As a result, a stable operation at extreme summer temperatures, a maximized overclocking potential and low temperatures are possible. However, the individual results depend strongly on the used water cooling (radiator size, pump capacity, fan speed) from.

In addition, the copper base was silver plated. In addition to the excellent optical effect of this method provides a better oxidation and corrosion protection for copper. In contrast, the lid is made of polyoxymethylene (POM) or acetal - a stable and poorly reactive special plastic. The seal between the lid and copper is achieved with a durable gasket.
