Overview

With this expansion card the owner of ASUS motherboards receives the first Intel-certified Thunderbolt-2 expansion card. The ASUS Thunderbolt II EX card offers the possibility to equip the system with its own Thunderbolt-2 technology. The expansion card case has a Thunderbolt-2 connector and a DisplayPort that are controlled by the Intel controller DSL5520.

With the Thunderbolt-2 technology bidirectional transmission speeds of up to 20 Gbit / sec can be achieved. That's four times faster than USB 3.0. Due to the extreme range of Thunderbolt 2 also videos in incredible detail on the latest 4K UHD and standards on appropriate screens to display.

Installation is very simple anymore: simply the expansion card in a PCIe 2.0 (x4) slot, push, and the corresponding cable to the Thunderbolt header and the display port header on the motherboard to connect. And away you go.

Is this card compatible with Skylake boards?

My board is an ASUS Z170M-PLUS (MATX/Crossfire/2xPCI-E/6 SATA3/7 Phase Power).

I am trying to use it with an Apple Thunderbolt display.
