Overview

The Intel H270 chipset on the ASUS PRIME H270M-PLUS Micro ATX motherboard supports Intel's processors of the 6th ("Skylake") and 7th ("Kaby Lake") generation for the LGA1151 socket. Intel's H2 Series 200-series ("Union Point"), compared to its predecessor from the 100 series, has 20 instead of 16 PCIe Express 3.0 lanes and an increased number of internal high-speed I / O (HSIO ) Lanes from now 30. Unchanged to the predecessor series from the Skylake generation, the number of maximum USB ports has remained constant so that the H270 chipset offers a maximum of 14 USB ports. The ASUS PRIME H270M-PLUS provides four DIMM slots for DDR4 memory in fast dual-channel mode as a micro ATX motherboard with Intel's H270 chipset for the 6000 and 7000 series processors. Up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM are accommodated by the four memory banks as a whole, and depending on the processor, the motherboard is compatible with DDR4 RAM with a clock speed of 2.133 MHz (with Skylake CPU) or DDR4-2.400 (with Kaby Lake CPU).

The motherboard has two PCIe x16 slots, one of which is connected to the chipset with full 16 lanes, while the other PCIe-x16 slot is electrically connected to four data lines. The board supports AMD's CrossFireX technology, and the board has two PCIe x1 slots for plug-in and expansion cards.

To connect data carriers, the board provides two M.2 slots for particularly fast NVE-M.2 SSDs as well as for 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch hard disks or SSDs six SATA-6G connectors (Including RAID support). The M.2 ports are connected to the chipset via four PCIe lanes in the 3.0 standard and, in combination with the NVMe protocol, enable a data transfer rate of just under 4 GB / s. Thus, M.2 PCIe SSDs are up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs!

For input devices and other gaming peripherals, the I / O panel has a USB 3.0 type C port and two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports each.
